Rosemarie Bruno, Esq.

I focus my practice on mediation and collaborative services in divorce, parenting, family custody, and other family disputes.

Court Admissions, Professional Licenses & Certifications:

I am admitted to practice law in the State of New York, the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States Tax Court.  I am also a licensed Social Worker, a Certified Professional Coach, and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst.

My Education & Training:
I received my law degree summa cum laude from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where I graduated second in my class. While at Touro, I served as Editor-in-Chief of the Touro Law Review.

I also hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where I also received a Bachelor of Arts Degree, summa cum laude, in Psychology. I also hold a Graduate Certificate in Counseling, with a focus on Marriage and Family Systems.

I received basic mediation training from the New York State Unified Court System's Certified Mediation Training program.  I received additional training in divorce mediation from the Ackerman Institute for the Family in Manhattan.  I also hold a Graduate Certificate in Conflict and Dispute Resolution from Missouri State University.

I am a Certified Professional Coach who has received additional training in conflict coaching and relationship coaching.  I have been trained and certified as a Divorce Financial Analyst by the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts.
I have also been trained as a Collaborative Lawyer by the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals in conjunction with The Center for Mediation in Law.

My Experience:

Prior to opening my own practice, I was an Associate at a large commercial and insurance law firm on Long Island where I practiced commercial and insurance litigation. As a commercial litigator, I represented clients in a variety of business industries, including the banking, real estate and insurance industries. My litigation experience includes handling matters ranging from basic business disputes to complex statutory claims. I also served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Stan Bernstein, a United States Bankruptcy Court Judge in the Eastern District of New York, which gave me a keen understanding of the difficult financial circumstances many struggling Long Islanders have found themselves in.

I have been providing mediation and collaborative services to Long Islanders since I opened my own practice in 2007.  My diverse training and background give me a unique perspective and the ability to approach dispute resolution as a multidimensional process. Likewise, my training and experience have given me the ability to assist clients with a host of issues ranging from marital and parenting difficulties to business disputes.

Finally, I can think of no better way to use my training and skills than to help make a real difference in people’s lives.  That is my ultimate goal.
